ABOUT ALOHA LIFE CHURCH

To provide a spiritual environment where people will encounter the transformational love of God.

We create this environment through:

  • fostering a culture of family who come together to grow in love, honor, faith, service and generosity together
  • offering unrestrained worship, passionate prayer and LIFE giving messages
  • celebrating each person’s gifts and giving people an opportunity to practice and grow in their gifts
  • equipping believers in their supernatural ministry
  • empowering one another to live life emulating the fragrance of Christ
  • joyful and hopeful expectation of God’s Spirit moving in signs, wonders and miracles

To give the hope and the LIFE of Jesus to everyone.

  • There is only one true God.
  • He is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The Trinity, the three-in-one.
  • The Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God and its truth shapes the way we live our lives.
  • God loved us first and our personal relationship with Him is our first priority and loving others is our second priority.
  • We are saved and ransomed by grace, a free gift of eternal LIFE which we can accept by faith.
  • Our salvation was paid for through the sacrifice and shed blood of Jesus Christ at the cross and can not be earned by our own efforts.
  • Salvation frees us from the power of the devil - sin, lies and sickness.
  • Holy Spirit indwells every believer and is our abiding Helper, Teacher, Guide and Comforter. We receive spiritual gifts from Holy Spirit.
  • As Christians, we are children of the King, adopted sons and daughters, no longer orphans or slaves.

 ALOHA LIFE CHURCH

HISTORY & MINISTRY

Aloha LIFE Church began in Pastor Stephen and Candyʻs home in spring of 2017. The church grew quickly and then moved to meet in a charter school in Anahola. When the room we rented was not available, we also met at other facilities that came available to us. Having a stable place with enough space was challenging but the Lord faithfully provided. Our church transitioned to online services in 2020.

Aloha LIFE Church also partners with other local churches and organizations to help host and facilitate community events, special guest speakers, worship and larger ministry events.

Our church has a core value to serve others with loving kindness. In addition to serving one another in our own church body, we seek out opportunities to serve individuals and families in the community (orphans, widows, bereaved, suicidal and people with special needs) as the hands and feet of Christ. We pray with and provide tangible resources for families such as our Aloha LIFE Bags for the homeless and displaced.

We desire to follow the example Jesus gave us and to be family to those who those who are lost and hurting.  God is the great protector and a loving Father. Psalm 68:5 says, “Father of the fatherless and protector of widows, is God in his holy habitation.”

Psalm 10:14 says, “But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted. You consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to you; you are the helper of the fatherless.” Justice is a fundamental part of God’s character, as we are shown in the Bible

Isaiah 61:1-4 says, "1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor."

Meet Pastor Stephen and Candy

PASTOR STEPHEN AND CANDY MCVICAR

Stephen grew up in England and was raised in a family who are all in full-time ministry. Candy grew up in California in a family of business entrepreneurs. God brought Candy and Steve together through the job transfers of their parents landing them both in Minnesota. After years of friendship, Steve and Candy married in 1999 and received the gift of a honeymoon on Kaua'i, and their love of Kaua'i began to seed and grow.

In 2001, their firstborn daughter Grace died, which led them to create a nonprofit called Missing GRACE Foundation which provides support and resources nationally for families grieving a pregnancy or infant loss. Kaua'i was their place to retreat and heal in their grief. The island also became the place to celebrate and enjoy their blessings, as their family grew with the miracles of their two daughters. They returned year-after-year and stayed longer and longer.  After a great deal of prayer and fasting, they were given overwhelming confirmation that Kaua'i was where God was calling them to plant a church and the Abba's Robe Retreat Center for Ministry Leaders.

Stephen and Candy were blessed to be covered in prayer and support by the House Church in Eagan, MN. They attended the House School of Ministry and were commissioned by the Church in 2015.

Shortly after the McVicar family moved to Kauai as missionaries and church planters, they began ministering together on the island in many areas. They assisted homeless families and provided support to other local ministries and churches. Stephen and Candy were invited to serve as board members with three different nonprofits, and they started a Missing GRACE Grief Support Group. Once Aloha LIFE Church launched, there were people attending from all over the island. Stephen and Candy enjoyed ministering side-by-side in the church and also with the Abba's Robe Retreat Center. Retreat guests came from other states and countries to receive respite, healing and rejuvenating time away with the Lord.

In the first quarter of 2021, the McVicar family had to make the difficult decision to move back to the mainland due to issues related to the pandemic and its affect on the church, the retreat and Stephen's job. The church continues offering weekly Sunday services online and is active in outreaches locally in South Carolina.
